Final Exam Part 3

Allowance

Kids love money and parents love a calm child. So too make their kids settle down most parents will give their kids allowance for basically doing nothing, and even though this may seem a viable solution in the moment this could destroy a child's future when they've graduated school and move out of their parents house.

In terms of graduating in fact, many kids aren't. Some people may see this as a uncommon thing or the child just wants to pursue a career outside of school, but I see this as a direct correlation to free allowance. These kids grow up getting free handouts from their parents and think to themselves that they don't need to work hard or study to get money. They just aren't used to working so they have no motivation too work.

In terms of work or a job, giving a child free money won't help them with that either. When it's working hard to get paid vs laying on the couch watching t.v and getting paid which one do you think a child will choose. Even if a parent kicks there 20 something year old out of the basement and makes him live on his own he's not going to work, he's going to go on government welfare taking it out on working class tax dollars.

So we've established that giving your child free money and being their servant isn't the best parenting option for success, so what is. The best type of parenting in my opinion is making your child do work in order too get paid, but not controlling them.

This can be hard too do as many parents who make their kids work are also very controlling, but you have to give them independence and inspiration. Being an over controlling parent can cause children too become overly submissive or overly rebellious, but making them work while giving them freedom and compassion can make your child's future self to blossom.  This will teach them to work for things while also giving them the ability to actually respect authority.

I know these may seem difficult as emotions can be one of the most powerful things we can experience, but I say to be patient. If you need to external help then Id recommend you do that because this is extremely important. You are the most important figure in your child's life, you determine how they'll turn out in the future. Be a good role model, teach your child good habits and give them respect, then watch your child be amazing.

Final Exam Part 2

Story 1

It was 1:45 AM and the night was going relatively smoothly. The meteorologists working at the Nadi Weather Centre were packing up ready to go back home and catch some sleep, until something drastic happened. At 2:00 AM the scientists detected a cyclone developing rapidly near Nauru and moving south-west across the Pacific towards the Solomon Islands. At 3:00 AM the Weather Centre contacted the Solomon Islands and warned them about the incoming cyclone they named "Victor", but there was nothing the Solomon Islands could do about it.

At 10:00 AM the winds in Honiara(The capital of the Solomon Islands)were blowing over 140 MPH. All  shipping near the islands were shut off and by midday Cyclone Victor passed directly over Honiara destroying over 20 houses, killing 6 people and injuring 18 people.

"We warned all the proper authorities. It was a fast developing front that we could not have anticipated any faster" said Nadi Weather Director James Jones.

Even though these scientists warned to islands as fast as they could, Cyclone Victor was too spontaneous and developing too quickly that the Solomon Islands couldn't take all the proper measures.

"It was pretty chaotic for a few hours when the storm hit the community. We have heavy hearts over the six people that lost their lives today" said Police Chief Marianna Adams.

Even though the lives of six people were lost and over 100 people became homeless there is still hope. The Honiara Local Pastor Harold Young opened up his church for people who lost their homes during the cyclone. he is also working to help these people get themselves back into a stable home.

"The church is open to anyone who lost their home and needs a place to stay. We will hold prayer services each night at 6 p.m. until we have everyone back in a stable home". said Harold Young.

The Solomon Islands government was able to avoid a more serious loss due to Hurricane Kilo that happened three years prior. This hurricane made the government establish emergency shelters, as well as giving emergency workers more experience with handling and dealing with tropical storms.

" I want to commend all of our local emergency workers for their efforts." said Jones. "It could have been worse but the emergency shelters established three years ago after Hurricane Kilo gave our people a lace to hide".

Even though the death toll was limited due to these factors people still died. Lisa Ramos was a mother of one of the men killed.

"We are devastated that our son, Frank, was killed. He was coming home from a vacation in Australia" Said Lisa Ramos.

Even though the Solomon Islands were able to avoid a serious loss, the increase in the amount and intensity of these storms is worrying. We have to be careful moving forward as more are bound to come.

CE 3.1

Short Answer

1. Sean Foley and Andrew Nestor
2.  Because the land was overly broad and closed off energy sources.
3. To keep up with inflation.
4. Baker Mayfield out of Lake Travis High.
5. I would see "Justice League".

Long Response

1. The tweet  showed that President Trump was someway aware about General Flynn's lies to the FBI when he was dismissed o Feb. 13. This is backed up by former FBI Director James Comey who talked to Trump earlier this year about this subject and Trump said to "let it go".
2. In my opinion I think Trump had some knowledge and awareness about the situation and said "let it go" to Comey at the beginning of the year just to give General Flynn another chance. President Trump probably saw Flynn as an asset and didn't want to loose him for a mistake but when the General showed repeated signs of lying and deception Trump knew he had to pull the plug on Flynn.
3. No I think President Trump should not escape to twitter when he wants to argue with rivals or talk about changes he will make, I think he should instead focus on talking to the people by writing more speeches or public broadcasts. Using twitter to escape the public is very cowardly in my opinion and even though the public and the press paint him as some idiot and bad president(which in my opinion he's doing just fine as president) he needs to man up and face the press head on while communicating to the public in a mature and professional manner.
4. I think twitter should be used to communicate opinions or thoughts in a mature manner or be used to post personal news about someones life, for example like a new dog or car. I think it should also be used to spread public awareness about certain topics but this can be a double edged sword as fake news on social media is a serious problem. Twitter in my opinion should not be used to rant in front of the whole world about your problems or challenge and argue others on their thoughts or beliefs.
5.  In my opinion people should get news from one source, they need to learn to research and find alternate news sources so they can perceive all the angles on certain news subject. A lot of news sources are very biased toward either a liberal or conservative mindset which can tamper with the actual facts, so people need to research about news topics and find the actual facts. The problem with this though is that a lot of people are lazy or want news backed up by their opinion so they can live in denial, which is unhealthy, so we need to teach people how to research and find the truth.
6. No, In my opinion Social Media is a terrible way to gather news information. Humans are very opinionated and biased creatures so most so called "real news" on social media is just biased people using bad news outlets or spinning facts so they can spread their personal opinion on a subject.

The Man Who Played The Violin

In a commonplace environment at an unexpected hour:

1. I do believe we would perceive beauty during a rush hour, but that beauty would be the things we already experience daily. We would hear a song on our playlist and think its beautiful but we wouldn't try to notice the beauty around us because it requires more energy and attention.

2. We don't stop to appreciate it because as I said above it would take more time and energy. If the beauty is something we are not used to (like classical music) it would be unlikely we would stop because we wouldn't want to get out of comfort zone to experience something we may or may not like. Its the same reason I like to listen to the same song multiple times before I change it, its comfortable with little to no effort, it would be more difficult and less comforting to try and find a new song on my own.

3. Yes I think we do recognize talent in an unexpected context, but have to notice the talent first. If we have headphones or earbuds in and were listening to our favorite song it would  be difficult for us to take them out and listen to music from a genre we don't really hear much in America. The people that did notice Bell were very impressed because they noticed and recognized his talent but the other people at the station never noticed him playing so they didn't really recognize his talent.

4. If we don't have a moment to sit down and listen to one of the worlds finest musicians we are missing out on a lot of stuff in the world we live in. Most people are only concerned on themselves such as the music their listening to or the movie/show their watching, they don't really look up at the world anymore. You can blame it on the cellphone or bad parenting but I believe its just Human Nature, if something does't interest us or please us right away were likely to ignore it.

Long Response

1. This story is about a new technology being introduced into the streets of austin, the self-driving car. This story talks about how the self-driving car is safer then human driven cars, because robots can't get drunk or angry and how this allows people with  disabilities to experience more freedoms.

2. The people who would benefit from the self-driving car are people who can't drive on their own, people who are blind or amputees.

3. Personally I would feel more safe if I was driving a car and others were driving cars because I wouldn't want to be In a machine going 60-80 mph and one that I can't control. With other cars I can go at my own pace and I would think not all machines are perfect so few driving cars are bound to crash.

4. No I do no think driving cars will be a big innovation because more people will stick to driving on their own and if not they'll just use public transportation.

When: 2017-2018 school year.
Why: To get students to come to class
How: Students can skip some of the finals if they have a good attendance.

This story is about how the Bowie administration revised the incentive plant to allow two incentives. These incentives were sort of passes that allowed students to miss finals as long as they had good attendance and good grade, but the problem was with only one incentive if students got sick there is nothing they could do about it. That is why Bowie decided to revise the plan and allow two incentives, so if students got sick or missed class because of something they can't control they wouldn't be punished.

Ann Widner, Emily Leeke, Shikha Patel, Emily Robinett. They are direct quotes.

Yes there are transition sentences that are opinions. The opinions are that they are in heavy favor of the new, revised incentive plan rather than the old one.

"It could have been worse, the bullet was 2 inches from the gas tank" said Rye.

When the paramedics investigated the home they found the abused dog.

" We walked in the home and one of the first things we noticed was the dog, It had cigarette burns all over its forehead and it was skinny, like it had never been fed. It was really sad and we took it into custody soon after we saw it" Said paramedic Bill Smith.

Janet NGO is filing together a animal abuse case against Jones.

"Its just horrible, how can anyone treat their own dog like that. No wonder the dog knocked the gun off the table" said Janet NGO representative Hill Harper.

Free Write

The nation is controlled by the cartel, a nation that exports drugs by the ton, a nation so corrupt that free speech is confronted by torture and death. It hasn't always been this way though, the small South American country of Equador used to peaceful, beautiful even until the violent & ruthless drug cartels from Mexico and Colombia found out about the dense rainforests and unpatrolled coastline that fed into the Carribean Sea. At first it was the colombians, small remanents that followed Pablo Escobar and His ruthless Medellin cartel.
They started in the rainforests with their cocaine processing super labs which converted the coca leaves into tons and tons of powdered cocaine. Business was going good until they ran into a problem, the coca farmers couldn't keep up with the Colombians demands so they gave up. The cartel was stuck until they realized the coca plant is legal in Bolivia and Peru, so they opened giant farms in those countries and had the leaves smuggled to Equador, were its processed then smuggled into the US.
At first the US didn't notice, they were too concerned with terorists and the Mexican cartels, but with the increased arrests due to cocaine possession and the amount of money being lost, of course the US would notice. At first they didn't know where it was coming from, but with the increasing stops at the Equador border they knew where to start. They sent the DEA down there to tear up the country in search of the cartel.
Now the beautiful country is gone. All there is a rainforest thats the stage for one of the most bloodiest drug wars in history. Trees and houses go up in flames everyday, the cartel kidnaps and tortures people who talk against them and gunshots replace the sound of birds. Its a terrible time, a terrible time indeed.

The Big Day Story

The Big Day

When real estate mogul John Harrisons son got married you would think it would have been great day. There was gourmet food and everyone was dancing, having a great time, but when a man rushed into the church a big secret was revealed. The man who rushed in was named Rob Smith the Angelina the brides secret lover who tried to get her not to marry.
As Rob Smith said" I was not her fiance because her dad made her marry another man" and we can all assume this was due to Harrisons massive amount of wealth. " Daddy wouldn't let me marry Rob because he wasn't rich, he was average, He wanted the money for him it was all about the money'" said Angelina the Bride. I think how greedy do you have to be to maniplulate your own daughters love for money. John Harrison the father of the soon to be husband was just apalled. " I thought we were good friends, I thought he liked me for me and not my money. We would go out and golf and have a great time just talking and I believed he was being real, no, he was just using me for my money" Said John Harrison. How crazy you know, a friendship that was just a cover to get the money from the Harrisons and his daughter.
" I was mad at Angelina but I realised it wasn't her fault, She was being used and I can't hold that against her" said Lance Harrison. Lance fell for Angelina and she had to fake her love, even though she was being used I think she could have at least told Lance the truth. I know it can be hard betraying someone, espically when its a family member you care about and love and I can't put that against her. " I know it was a bad thing to do, but I just wanted the best for my daughter and her future children, you have to understand it wasn't all about me" said Jack Garrison. Even though it's good to care about someone and do anything to help them, but if the help goes against their own wishes goals you should step back, Im not saying it was just out of greed but he should have at the least talked to her about how she wanted to approach the sitiuation.
A wedding that was just a masquerade, what a strange and cruel prank to pull and even though it was out of love it still was cruel thing to do. Its not all bad news though Angelina and Rob might get the dads blessing as a way of apologizing for his actions, so there still might be hope for a brighter world.

The big day

So we see a man driving down a road in what looks like a regular, old car and we see a bride getting a dress tailored. we can assume that the man in the car is drving so fast because he's trying to get to his wedding and he's late. As he's driving he gets slown down by other slower vehicles and a train, then when he finally gets to his wedding his fiance is marrying another man because he wasn't fast enough, and we can assume this because he wasn't driving a Volkswagen.

News Ethics

1. PETA started a campaign called Holocaust on a plate and its meant to compare the mass genocide of 6 million jews to the slaughter of animals. The campaign shows a camp where animals are being slaughtered in a similar fashion to people in concentration camps during world war 2. PETA was sued by the Central Court of Jews and the campaign was later banned by the supreme court.
I think PETA was wrong for doing this because their comparing the slaughter of 6 million people to animals and people who lived through the holocaust were rightly disgusted by this. The mass genocide of families and people should not be compared to the way we get our food and our way of survival.
2. The pop-rock band the tings tings upcolming album was leaked which caused the band to loose thousands of dollars. Situtaions like this are happening all over the music industry and its causing a lot of lost revune which the band members need to survive. Even the these pirate attacks have been ignored by the news, instead of talking against the acts they are just commenting on how it happened.
I think this is bad because it hurting the music economy by allowing people to easily get the free music instead of paying for it. This causes band who work hard to produce music loose revune which they need to survive.
3.The reporters of the wateragate scandal kept the source a secret and called him deepthroat. In 2005 his name revealed to be Mark Felt, a FBI agent. News sources should be kept secret if it might damage their career or put them in harms way.

5 Bean to bar because it would be fun too make some chocolate.

1. Charlottesvile construction workers covered confederate war hero statues to mourn white woman killed in protests. Wensday a man with a knife apporached the statue and started to cut the tarp. when the local police asked him to stop he obliged and said it was unlwaful to cover the statues. Later that year a protest of white spuremsits occured and counter protesters clashed with them. A man drove his car into a crowd killing 32-year old heather Heyer.
2.No i do not think it should have been shrouded. I think this because those confederate war heroes are part of south carolinas and the united states history and covering them is destroying historical monuments.
3.I think it is a bad descesion because those statues are historical monuments. those statues show our history and provide a respect for all the people that died during the civil war. Even though those statues mourn people who fought on the the wrong side doesnt mean the people were bad. Those statues represent an important time in southern culture and too remove them is removing history.
4.To be honest I dont really care about the statues and I think others should do the the same. The statues are historicalaral monuments and shouldnt be treated politically.
5. No.
